FORT OF SILENCE AND SHORT WORDS

Extracts from various project series. My Fort of Silence consists of three documentary photographs of a video installation, 2004. Entertainment Idea and The Only Words I Know… are individual images from a larger pool of work dealing with the relationship of word/text to image. The images with strangers were guest intrusions into the book Interruptions and at one level intend to depict the inherent, paradoxical, and ridiculous stillness* experienced as a consequence of the photographic medium. Empathy is sought with these individuals by somehow estranging them from their otherwise inferred inclusion in a 'social-landscape', in an attempt to emphasise that very context.
