This book project was carried out in Barcelona, Spain, again with a compact analogue camera.
This project explores, through visual and text sequences, the nature of the text-image relationship. The unfixed narrative arrives by way of a shifting text>image relationship: the two are restless companions yet the removal of one would bring about the collapse of the other. Therefore the image, and the text are both placed in jeopardy, and things ‘in jeopardy’ seem to constitute the landscape that we occupy, and the fragmented narrative is, arguably, the form by which events tend to unfold.
The text oscillates between states of rationalization and momentary losses in orientation, whilst
the images are obliged to reside within the constraints of the frozen, still image, though desiring the remotely fixed but continually cycling quality of cinema. On the other hand, a film still, a single frame, embraces the notion of an enigmatic narrative, and though also frozen, it implies past, present and future possibility.
